Got caught in the rain about a mile back in the woods yesterday, and had to pack out an extra 20/lbs. of rainwater with me, but got to see some wonderful country in my search for treasure. Carla had the best time of it though as you can see from the pics
I did not take the Chaga though, I will let those grow for a few more years. Got my backpack full of Chanterelles and my bucket full so I was a happy camper despite the rain:-)
I would like to point out another reason why I wouldn’t harvest this Chaga, if you will notice the discoloration on the bark all around the Chaga, that discoloration is from the continuation of the sap that is still running in the birch trees all day long.
